I go against. I think in doing so I have permanently mutilated my neck, but BOY is it good for the face.

shaving against the grain will give you a much closer shave than shaving with the grain. Whichever way you shave, try to shave in only one direction if you can. Once you start shaving in different directions, you're just asking for ingrown hairs.

Good point there Eric! I normally shave against the grain but recently I started to do a bit of both above my lip as it gave more comfort, but I shall stick to shaving against now that you've said that!

I'm clean shaven because I have to be. When I get out, I'll probably grow my beard back – at least from time to time... Meghan likes me clean shaven but she's not fanatical about it.
I'm thinking about growing out "The Lemmy" next time I take some serious leave, though.

I actually have a picture of me getting checked out hardcore by a girl the first time I did it.
There again, I was also playing in a band which may have had something to do with it.

Right, here's a question. Which is the best direction to shave in? Against the grain or with? I was never actually shown how to shave, lol, and I always get little cuts, especially on the curve of my chin. I try to go with the grain most of the time EXCEPT when I shave my head (every third day). For some reason, going against the grain doesn't seem to bother me there. But on my face? I always try to go with the grain. If I go against, it always seems to "burn" a bit. Don't know why, it just does. The shaved head thing? It's a good look, I'm just saying....
