Ok, so I recently started fabricating hypothetical scenarios on modifying one of my guitars. I've got an American Strat that is almost everything I could ask for in a guitar. I came up with the idea of getting a new neck as well as having the body routed to accommodate a Floyd Rose. However, I don't know how the repercussions would go, so I'm intensely hesitant to put my favorite guitar under the knife like that. Anyone know anything about how things like that would go over?

Id say.... don't do it, buy a Kramer. They are cheap and, if it doesn't go according to plan you wont destroy your lovely strat.

Yeah, I'm having an easy time agreeing with that one myself. Sometimes fantasies don't need to be a reality, I suppose.

I agree with Akira and the good Doctor, get a cheap Strat that you can mod to your hearts content.

Get a cheap Squire strat to mod away on. One of my favorite all time guitars is one of my friends Squire strats. Pickups were upgraded to PRS Dragon I's, new bridge, new tuners, new electronics, and who knows what else. It is one of the sweetest guitars I've played or heard.

Absolutely. In case the message hasn't been unanimous enough yet, I recall the old saying, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."

I seventh that statement. it's a horrible feeling having modified guitars you wish you hadnt altered.... Dont Do it! I absolutely agree with everyone else... Get a cheap Strat, and go Picasso on it. I almost considered scalloping the frets of my Fernandez about 4 years ago... I'm glad I didnt.
