I'm thinking about saving up for an acoustic guitar for myself this summer, as I don't have one that's actually mine. I kind of like the look of Epiphone EJ-200s, but I've never played one (or any Jumbo, for that matter). Can anyone tell me anything about them? I'm thinking of going with one of these or else some kind of Yamaha acoustic, because I like the feel and sound of them. With an EJ-200 I'm looking at something like $350-400. I've seen decent Yamahas for as low as $200. But yeah, any info on Jumbos or the EJ-200 in particular would be awesome.

Sweet lookin axe earthman, don't know much about them except they're BIG, i'd definately try one for size before you buy, i've got a western acoustic, i don't think it's as big as a jumbo but it's like playin a suitcase, gives my shoulders hell!

My 12-string Takamine is a Jumbo body style with a cut-away. It is quite large. I personally prefer the dreadnought body style, for comfort and looks. The jumbo isn't much harder to get used to, though. I also really dislike how that guitar looks... but then, you didn't ask if we liked how it looks or not

It's kinda funny how we're like, total opposites.

Good luck with your shopping. ...And Im never really liked Dreadnoughts very much. Too bulky, I think... And it's kind of intersting that so many of us are purchasing acoustic guitars at the (well, relatively) same time... Why is this?

ive always liked acoustics more than electrics... i love the body because i like to hug wood...or not... but yeah i just love the feel of an acoustic... jumbos definitely look sexy but it might be a bit bulky for me... im a little tired of dreadnoughts it makes my right shoulder sore...but then again maybe they all do that.. ah well

I played a really nice Takamine 6 string and 12 string last year.
All I need now is £2400 and I can have both of them!
Anyone feeling kind/drunk?

Damn ittttttttttt. I tried it out today, it felt and sounded alright. No better or worse than anything else I've played, really. I didn't even notice the size, so that's a good thing. It was $387 at the place I went to. But I tried a couple of others I also liked. A Takamine that looked something like the one here. I'm not sure if that's the exact one or not, I couldn't remember the model number and there were a few on the site that looked the same. It too felt and sounded pretty good. I think it was about $410. And the Yamahas I mentioned earlier are this type of thing. I've always thought they sounded and felt pretty good, but the downside is that I don't like the look of them. They're so...typical. But I saw some today for $139. I know it's a totally subjective thing, but given these three options, what would you do?

I'd close my eyes and let my hands and ears decide. Right on. I think I would pay more attention to how the guitar made me fell through it's constrution quality and sound than what it looked like, becuase when you get right down to it, looks arent what really matters. it's whats inside that counts. Besides we all know your particular tasted when it comes to guitars...
