Yep, Havoc Din's live DVD shoot is tomorrow night, Jan. 12th. Our set will be about an hour and a half. Gonna have 6 camera's and a local pro recording the audio. Keep your fingers crossed for us, last time we tried recording a DVD, it didn't work out....we learned from our mistake and we're having the audio recorded seperately....we're also going to perform one of our songs 2 extra times at the end of our set so we'll have plenty of footage for that song to make a video that's going to be submitted to MTV, Fuse, etc....
We're also still working on our debut album, which should be done in the next 3-4 months. It's taking longer than we initially expected.
Hopefully I'll have some new material for you all to check out soon.....I'm tired of hearing the old demo's we have right now, they just don't represent us very well...

Oh man, that's exciting! Be sure to let us know how it goes, and when the DVD will be available for sale (make sure you can ship to Canada ). Good luck with the album as well. It has been really interesting following ya'lls musical career... from seeing the fliers for your bar gigs, to seeing you share the stage with some bigger named bands. I wish you all the best in all of your musical adventures and projects!

Thanks Bro.....I'll ship a copy to Canada even if I'm not supposed to ... After playing in bands for almost 20 years, this one is finally doing a little something....2008 is going to be a big year in the Havoc Din camp.... I just noticed that Zakk Wylde is a lefty in my avatar......that never dawned on me until just now...

Thanks again for all the support, you all ROCK!
The shoot went really well....didn't have the crowd we were hoping for, but there was around 250-300 people there, which is actually a good crowd here in Columbia, SC. They were loud as hell.... We were just happy that we broke even with money on paying for the video and audio recordings, so it all worked out great.
The film crew got some killer angles, they were running around on stage with us, putting the camera(s) about 6 inches from our guitars during solos, etc.....we can't wait to see how it turned out. Once again, I had a few too many brews before we went on so I played a bit sloppy in places, but there were no train wrecks or anything.....Overall, we were tight the whole set...
As soon as we get the video back that's going to be sent out to all the music channels, I'll post a link to it on YouTube. That'll probably be the first thing we get back. I hope to be able to also get a few of the songs from the DVD portion of the live show to post as well.
Oh, and here's a question for everyone.....we covered Voodoo Child during our set. Would that cause any problems if we included that on the DVD? We don't want to violate any copyright laws or anything. We may pull that performance off of the DVD since that's going to be sold and just post it on YouTube since that way we actually would not be making any money from that particular performance. I need to look into that.....
Anyway, thanks again for everyone's support. Can't wait for you all to see it and have a good laugh at us southerners....

Glad it went well Joe as far as the Hendrix tune, it's my understanding that it's perfectly legal to cover someone else's material but, if you profit from it you're liable to pay royalties, do check this though, i'm no expert! look forward to hopefully seein some of your stuff on youTube, though i'd be interested in getting a copy of the DVD if poss???, for payment of course i'm not a freeloader!

Yep, good to hear it! Regarding the cover tune, I remember reading a few years ago essentially what Craig said. I only remember because this covered live performances as well (which I thought was slightly ridiculous), since you're getting paid for it. It admitted that hardly anyone pays these kinds of royalties, but that doesn't mean "they" couldn't come after you for them. It also went on to suggest to deduct your own taxes from such gigs...again, though, not a prevalent practice.

That's what I'm thinking also.....It's legal until money is made. We decided to not include Voodoo Child on the DVD. But we will make it available for free.....
I wonder if including it on the DVD as "free bonus material" would keep it legal? That way we would be selling the live show that is on the DVD, but not really the "bonus material". There are so many loop holes in laws, there is probably a certain way it can be done that is legal. We are going to leave it off of the DVD, but this popped in my mind...
And yeah, technically cover bands that make money are illegal unless they pay royalties. But like Rustee said, nobody ever goes after them for it.
We are going to listen to the audio recording of the show tomorrow. If there are any major things that sound awful, we're going to fix 'em...but we're going to try to keep it as honest as we can....

And yeah, technically cover bands that make money are illegal unless they pay royalties. But like Rustee said, nobody ever goes after them for it. I was under the impression that, unless you were putting on the show yourself, that whoever was running the venue was responsible for the royalties. It's all crooked bull shit though

We hope to be able to make that journey at some point. New Jersey might not be too far off for us...
We got an invitation from a band back in November to go on a European tour with them starting in February for 6 weeks, but we just couldn't pull it off....Wouldn't make enough cash to cover expenses, plus if we could have at least broke even, we all didn't have time to get our passports. It felt good to be asked though..
