I'm falling in love with JAZZ...What do I do?!?
I think it's interesting to see your musical tastes change over time, though.

Not sure how to tell you to rectify the problem, as that's never happened to me before. I say embrace the change and just go with it.
Most peoples musical tastes do change over time. However, mine really hasn't changed much at all from when I was a little boy. I would say, though, that I'm able to appreciate more styles of music than I used to be able to. I still hate 98% of rap/hip-hop though, lol.

Immerse yourself in it, learn all you can stand about it and follow the history. I suspect you'll find it very, very interesting. The more you learn, the more you want to learn. Funny how that works.

Yes yes. Plus, it'll be a good test of my reading, scale/chord vocabulary, eartraining (ect.) I really like the spontaneity of virtuosic jam sessions. From what I see, it looks like a hell of alotta fun. . Besides, I have a few Django Reinhardt albums I've been meaning to learn/notate. Fun fun fun.

Django Reinhardt's stuff is still the only jazz I can handle. But it is neat how your tastes can change over time. It was probably only a couple years ago when I was one of those I-don't-listen-to-anything-but-Zeppelin kids, and now I'm finding that I actually sort of like most styles of music.

Yeah, it's nature, I think, to lock into a style that "speaks" to you at some point in your life. I think someone said once that by the time you're in your mid-twenties, your tastes are pretty much decided UNLESS you opt to open yourself up to new things. I know my tastes now as a middle-aged guy are still changing and I am finding new things all the time. (But I will be a blues/rocker at heart until my dying day!)

Take it head on.
Download lots of Wes Montgomery, Thelonius Monk & John Coltrane.
If you can listen to Coltrane & sort of 'get it' you're hip!! ;D
