I was wondering if the way I hold my pick might affect my speed/accuracy while playing at high speeds? I play with the "shoulder" of the pick, so I have less mass of the pick moving across the pick, meaning I can get another pick attack right away.
I hold it with my thumb, index, and middle finger. I heard Steve Morse says it help his stablility of his pick, though other sources say it's only hinder me.... Which I don't really see how.
Any ideas?

It's all personal preference on what works best for you. I always thought that Hendrix, Van Halen, plus a lot more have a very strange picking hand position. It works for them, but I couldn't play very well using the same posture, etc....
And what do you mean by
"I have less mass of the pick moving across the pick, meaning I can get another pick attack right away."
