Lol, the Green Party are going on about how speed limiters should be introduced to motorcycles, so that when you exceed the speed limit brakes are applied. a. How come they only say this about motorcycles? b. Have they any idea how dangerous that would be in certain situations? c. Surely the system could just be disabled anyway. Apparantly they say it will come hand in hand with road pricing. It's all bullshit if you ask me. I find the whole concept of "nanny government" to be infuriating beyond words. It is so inanely stupid on so many levels.

A speed limiter would be pointless. It would be way to easy to take off or modify and bikers would most likely boycott manufacturers, not to mention builders saying the hell with that.
As Tonja said, rev limiters are to keep rpm's from going to high, most atv's have them and you can always hear manual cars with them when they take off.
My Explorer coasts down and disables the gas pedal when you hit 110, I think those might be caps or just rev limiters. I've never heard a rev limiter go off on an automatic in a lower gear. I know a lot of pickups stop at 95 or 98.
