I have always been intrigued by scotch, but have either never drank it right, or never been able to afford a good bottle of it. So, here's what I'm asking... How do you enjoy your scotch, and what brands of scotch are worth trying?

A really good starter is Glenfiddich 15 year old Solera Reserve. Drink it neat followed by a 50% tonic water / water chaser with a splash of lemon in it ! - bloody great !
A reasonable blended scotch is "The famous grouse". Not s many $$ not nearly as sweet or smooth.

I agree. LOVE Glenfiddich. For the normal, nothing special night, 12 year old single malt over ice. Good scotch will not leave you feeling punky the next day. I usually have a bottle of Walker Black on hand here at the house. Perfect for entertaining. Not terribly expensive but goes down niiiiice and smooth.

I'm with the Doc and the Hunter on the Glenfiddich, i take mine straight, Glen Morangie is another very fine scotch, i pretty much stick with single malt varieties as i'm not a lover of blended whiskeys.

Finally got my hands on a small bottle of Glenfiddich... I must say, it was/is pretty nice. It's not quite good enough to justify it's price though (to me at least). $22 for a pint was a bit expensive for my blood. I haven't really developed the taste for drinking hard liquor straight. However, I was able to enjoy the Glenfiddich after the ice had watered it down a touch. It was nice to sip on then. Maybe someday my tastebuds will mature for whiskey/scotch, like they have for beer.
