I know we used to talk about this at that other forum a lot, but since all the cool people are here now, do you think a GP convention could ever happen, even theoretically?
Josh and I have been discussing it on msn, and we've decided it's time. I think a 3-day weekend type thing would be best...no one would have to take loads of time off work that way, and there'd be plenty of time for hanging out and playing. We could rent a convention centre or something and just have all these little jam circles going for most of the day, with all different styles represented, and we'd just rotate through casually and on our own whims, getting to play with folks with similar styles and getting to know one another in a non-internet fashion.
In the evenings we could have members playing with their bands for the rest of us, and of course there would be beer gardens. We could even try to rent out a floor or two of a hotel so that out-of-towners (which would be most of us, as we are an international crowd) would have a place to stay and so the party needn't necessarily ever stop.
Wouldn't that be the greatest thing ever? Really, let's do it.
The only thing is, where could we have it that's roughly equally accessible to all of us? And when?

I like the idea. If we could figure out a way to pull it off, I would do my best to be there.

It would really be wonderful if we could make this happen some day. Unfortunately, it'll probably be about a year before I'm able to plan for something like this. (stupid immigration).

Okay, so let's say...2010.
Whoa whoa whoa. Years are looking so future-y these days.

Okay, cool. 2010. I'm in. Now, where are we going to hold this affair? We have a rather nice and usually empty covention center here in Pittsburgh. Doc Simon could use the chance to bring his bride and visit with the in-laws....
I'm just saying, it's something to consider. Rooms are cheap here. Good food, lots and lots and lots of beer and other drink.

Anywhere that's not Winnipeg is gonna cost me money...Pittsburgh is relatively close, I suppose.

i was hoping for the australian continent to just mould itself to the north american continent after a major natural disaster like global warming or some sort..
so i can like chew grass and hitchhike me ass all the way and appear at the convention looking all cool and whatnot...
then i can bake pie for everyone
