I'm in need of a loop pedal*, and have been thinking about building one myself. Anybody have any experience with doing this sort of thing? Where would one get parts for such a project? *by loop pedal, I'm talking about something like >this<

I don't know how handy you are with schematics Eric, but i have some schematics that may be of some use to you, i don't have the exact spec that you want but you may be able to come up with a suitable design using the info from them. I have schematics for the following, a single loop bypass w/tuner out, triple loop bypass, and A/B switcher with X-pattern switch grounding (this is the same grounding system Loop-Master uses and is IMO essential to ensure no signal crossover between loops) You'll probably find most of the parts you'll need here www.pedalpartsplus.com/If you want the schematics i'd prefer to e-mail them as i've 'lifted' them from various web sites over time, and there may well be copyright issues, so i'd rather not upload them, feel free to PM me if you'd like them e-mailed.

I've got all the parts for it now. Father-in-law is supposed to be getting the enclosure made for me, so that's all I'm waiting on now. I'll be sure to report back as soon as we get started/done.

ok, so I've finally got all the parts I need. All I've got done so far is drill all the holes in the enclosure, and test mounted all the components. I'd like to paint the enclosure before I start soldering though, so it will still be a while yet before I'm done. I'll be sure to get some pics taken.

Well, I couldn't wait for paint, so I went ahead and built it. It took a bit of trouble shooting to get it to work, but it finally works. First thing I did wrong was, I didn't connect the DC jack up right. The other problem that I had/have is that the return jacks are very close to the edge of the enclosure. So, if I put the cover on, it pushes the sides in, in a way that causes the jacks to short out. I'm not sure how I'm going to remedy this one yet, but at least it's not a major problem. I'll post up some pics once I take them. It's pretty sloppy in there, but then, this was my first time to ever solder or do anything like this, so it was a huge learning experience. I enjoyed it though, and would definitely do it again.
