7 AUD is about 6 USD, so that's pretty typical for that type of job... at least in the US. However, cost of living is probably more expensive down there, so it's probably not very equal. Too bad about the prick boss. I know how much of a pain that can be. You've just got to bite your tongue and not let him get to you, and make the best of things.

I make minimum wage for cutting grass. And no one checks up on me very often, so I come home regularly and spend half the day watching Monty Python.
It's a fun job.
Sorry to hear about yours, dude.

minimum wage here would be 13.45 aud an hour...a train ticket costs 6.30.... a pack of cigarettes would be 12 bucks...a normal meal would cost 7 bucks...and a pint of generic aussie beer costs another 7 bucks...i work 5 hrs a day 3 times a week as im still considered an immigrant student that can only spend 20 hrs per week with work...
a day off during the weekend generally means alcohol hammer time...and that alone would cost at least 70 bucks for a good amount of buzzing...
what a monkey butt of a job

I feel for ya dude. For having limited schedule/work hours, I think serving in a restaurant or lounge or whatever where you could get tips is one of the most financially rewarding entry level areas. And you might be able to get beer at a discount!

That sucks... I remember when I was young and because I was a student - I had to work for less than minimum wage, back then - I worked for 3.55/hr at McDonald's lol... On the positive side... I think everyone should have to work their asses off for very little money for a short period in their lives... It builds great character, respect for others and the value of money. Just learn what you can from the experience now, so you can benefit from it in the future. I know... very hard to do now when it sucks royally in the ass...

Work sucks. I have today off... I am supposed to be doing something but I'm slacking with it all. I can't wait until school starts again so I don't have to work as hard.

i totally agree with the new perspective ive gained...then u get all these customers that have their noses over their heads up in their asses being condescending and all with their tone of voice and actions...damn corporate people...the store didnt even give me a proper training so i dont know most of what stuff is being laid where...not to mention the lack of staff as well...as little as 3 ppl work in a shift...2 cashiers and one filler (me)...and we get heaps of people pouring in all the time...so i dont really have anyone to ask for help when needed...then i become a douchebag by telling them the item is out of stock then they manage to find the items themselves...bu ah well it happens i guess...
not to mention the crappy chinese pop music they aaaaaaalways play... it wudn be so bad if i understood a single word in chinese...

I start my first job today. A small music supply shop by the name Music and Arts. I've learned that I've got much to learn just by orientation...
This does'nt bode well...

Meh, about the prink of a boss, sometimes you just gotta take some shit. Though soon or later, you'll decide enough is enough, find a better job, put in your 2 weeks and be done with him. Then the next day after you start your new job, you go back into the grocers and shit on the meat.

My job currently rules right now. I'm back to mindless office work in the a/c and my mommy makes me lunch or brings it for me. Life is good. I still can't wait until school starts up again, so I don't have to spend everyday trying to make money to be able to attend school.

my boss have been away for quite some time now...which is groovycakes...so work had been much easy going...buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut.... rumour has it he will be back sometime this week...yep...good ol' frankie...i have mixed feelings though...it should mean pay day...something i really look forward to...but then i have mixed feelings abt that too...with the amount of work ive put in...i dont think i will be very satisfied with what i shud be getting pay...unless he runs away to some unknown land and begins raising pigs in some farm...and then repeats the whole ordeal again...
i call it...the loop theory
