Was watching the British Superbike racing today. On this particular circuit (which is near where I live ) there's a hill section, the bikes travel up there quite fast and so generally get airborn at the peak. One guy came over it, landed on his front wheel, came off and broke his femur as well as dislocating his knee, in the same leg. To add to that the paramedics popped his knee back in to place on the spot. *pukes*

Man, I saw this thing on one of those "I can't believe it was caught on motherfucking camera" type shows, where this guy on a dirt bike hit a little bump right before taking this jump. He realized at the top of his air-time that he wasn't gonna make it onto the flat-bed he was trying to land on, so he sort of leaned way back. It saved his life, too, because the bike went right under the flat-bed and if he was sitting upright it would have decapitated him. Instead, he hit the ground and bounced up into the bottom of the flat-bed. He broke a leg and some ribs and basically got cut in half up the crotch, but somehow he lived.
It was fnasty.

Motorcycles aren't bad.... but if you are planning on doing that foolish stuff on one.. like getting airborn on one... Yeah - stay away from them...

Well, on that circuit over the hill, they have a choice, get airborn or slow down and lose. Doesn't always pay off evidently. Doing my bike license next summer hopefully though.

To me it seems really silly to risk your life and limb for winning a race and prize money...
How much is the use of your legs worth? Or your life?

Wasn't it you who sucked at driving? What makes you think you'll be better riding a motor, with nothing to shield you from harm?

Some people do it because they enjoy the thrill of racing. I think it's easily comparable to other sports, especially extreme sports, where people run the risk of injury for something they love doing.

I'm actually going fo rmy permit probably before college starts back up. As for airborne stuff, that should be left to dirtbikes and quads and not at 100+mph. Hell, you can get an easy 2' of air in 1st gear depending on the ride.
