One of my degree assignments this semester is to do with Radio Production, basically we have to plan and produce our own radio station/programme. We have to give a full plan for an hour show but record a total of 5 minutes of audio covering different sections of the show. So I was wondering, what time would you lot epect to hear a radio programme specializing in instrumental rock? Initially I thought from 9pm till 10pm, but I wondered what you lot would think. Any thoughts/advice welcome.

3 am - 4 am, so no one would be bothered by it.

Well back in the day (waaaaay back in the very early seventies when I was just a tot) there were a number of radio stations that did the AOR format. If I recall correctly, they would do progressive and experimental stuff from 11:00 PM to Midnight or Midnight to 1:00 AM.
It seemed to center on when the stoners were most likely to be collapsed in their bean bags chairs, lava lamp going in the corner, one hand wrapped around a beer and the other around a bong....

I'd prolly say 10 pm and later, as it's well past supper and primetime tv show slots.

You no doubt a speaking of the great WDVE program called "For Headphones Only". They used to play entire albums without commercial cut for cut in order. This is what got my into Floyd when I heard Dark side of the Moon for the first time in 1973.

I'd do it at rush hour times, that way, you can open a lot of people to new music.

I'd do it at rush hour times, that way, you can open a lot of people to new music. That, and the early morning commute Most people I know like listening to "the morning show" on their favorite station in the mornings. And, if anybody else is like me, you don't want to mess with their morning routine. I'm thinking that anywhere between 9p.m. to midnight would be a good time for an instrumental rock show. You'd probably need a good radio personality (DJ) to keep things going though.

I'd have to agree with you Eric on that one, people are usually pretty content with current radio programs so to suddenly change it at peak hours would be disruptive. I'm thinking either 9 till 10 or 10 till 11 (pm). Thanks for all the replies so far.
