Without reading much into this heres my bit of input. Reguardless of whether GW is real or not, we do some fucked up shit to our enviornments and we need to tone that stuff down. Some people like to preach in extreme's and thats whats annoying (remember, only 1 square of TP.) Like Eric said, even if its not real, what the hell is wrong with cleaning things up a little, hell, I'd like the cities not to smell like shit all the time.

Yeah, I guess that's where I'm going to have to safely keep my opinions as well. I just don't know enough about it to really make any sort of informed opinion. I can see what Rask was saying about all that stuff I said, and so I've come to the conclusion I just don't know enough to justify any type of judgement.
I will say this, though: even if Global Warming is something that needs to be reckoned with, it will not affect the world until after I am dead. Therefore, I'm not too worried. I realize it's a jackass-sounding thing to say, and I'm glad there are people who care enough about this stuff to at least try and make the world better for future generations, but when I hear people talk about this kinda thing, the first thing that comes into my mind is "Well, I'll be dead by then anyway."
Just bein' honest.

There's already been alot of very good points made here (most of which i completely agree with so i'll keep it short, i saw 'the great global warming swindle' very good, very informed, very accurate, anyone with a basic high school education on the subject of science will be able to pick holes in the scaremongers theories of our imminent demise, the earth has always gone through climatic changes, always will, infact the earth produces most of the CO2 in the atmosphere! (Al Gore doesn't like to tell us that though!) a multi- billion pound global industry has been built on the back of all this scare mongering! so its not gonna go away anytime soon, should we look at ways of preserving the earths resources and finding more efficient ways of producing energy? hell yes! i wouldn't dispute it! but is my car killing the planet? NO! thats just an excuse the government uses to plunder my pocket every time i fill up with fuel and they take 65% of the cost in tax! the reality is we can all do a bit to help the evironment but we can't change nature.

Just had to add this, it came up totally randomly in an msn convo I was having with my friend Andrew:
Sylar-Face says (8:41 PM): if al gore could smell this fart i just had, he'd be super pissed

That really REALLY annoys me, and I don't even work. Being able to drive isn't a choice, it's a necessity it seems; you need to be able to drive just to get on with things. Politicians over here are trying their hardest to get people to use their cars less, by ways of higher taxation; makes you wonder what the real motive is to be honest. My statement annoys you? I'm not sure I read your comment right. Nooo, no your statement didn't annoy me; infact I was agreeing with you. What I meant was it's really annoying that some politicians seem to expect everyone to walk 30 miles to work rather than drive.

I'm skeptical about the whole global warming issue, however I do beleive the population needs to be more environmentally conscious. Just out of respect for one another. There are other consequences of all the pollution that is being thrown in the air.
We live in Nova Scotia where we have the jet stream usually pointing right at us. So we get all the polluted air from the major cities on the East Coast. We have been dubbed "The Exhaust Pipe of the Americas" . We have the highest rate of Asthma per capita in our country. And we are not a major manufacturing city.. our air should be clean, but its not. Its a tough pill to swallow when you are having to suffer consequences for other people's actions.
I don't beleive in the gloom/doom scare tactics some of the scientists/governments are using to get people to support their actions... however that doesn't mean I think people should disregard the issue all together.

I find it interesting how no one on here has really said they believe it's happening. I was under the impression that I was part of the minority for being skeptical about it; I've had people give me disgusted looks when telling them it's not such a big deal. But then, I guess Guitar Pub doesn't exactly make up a huge chunk of society. Still, I wonder how many people out there actually believe in global warming? Has anybody ever seen any stats like that?

I think it's pretty universally accepted in society but there is also I think a trend of more and more people catching onto the "2+2=chicken sandwich" logic of the "environmentalist" camp.
Another factor may be that with the likes of Al Gore releasing all kinds of propaganda, the minority of us who disagree with him are becoming more vocal before we get totally steam-rolled by the dogma.

For real, here was my post on that other forum..... "My opinions.... There's no such thing as global warming caused by humans.....just b/c the climate is going through it's normal shift as we humans are on earth, then we humans are gonna be pointing fingers and trying to find the reason for it all, or I should say, make up a reason for it all... Ice melting will not cause the ocean levels to rise....it's simple displacement as someone mentioned before...the only thing that melting glaciers will affect is the salinity of the oceans.... Bunch of hippies!" I've heard you kick hippies ;D Every now and again....sometimes I beat 'em with emo kids..
