Get any marks taken off? If so, for what? (I am assuming the driving tests in the UK are somewhat similar to Canadian ones...)

Yeah, I took driver's ed (I have no idea how many classes) and passed my test the first time with only 5 marks off - which amounts to one little mistake. I don't know if it's the same in other countries (or even other provinces, really), but the way they mark driving tests here in Manitoba is pretty stupid. Making a small error (like making a turn too wide) will lose you 5 marks. Making a major error (like running a red light) will lose you 10 marks. You are allowed to lose up to 50 marks in small errors, but any 10-mark error will automatically fail you. Oh, and if you make the same 5-mark error 4 times, that will fail you as well. Because, you know, 50 = 10 = 20. That's how the metric system works.

Over here you are marked in terms of minors and majors.
More than 14 minors and you fail, 1 major and you'll fail.
If you're really that bad at driving the examiner has the right to just get out the car and walk off, haha.
I got 9 minors *gets test report sheet*
1 for steering control 1 for safety during moving off (or lack of) 3 for use of mirrors whilst changing direction (or lack of) 1 for undue hesitation 1 for going too fast approaching a junction 1 for awareness (or lack of)
Of course all of these refer to individual events in the test and not the test overall.
Not too bad overall really, I pretty much knew when I got marked down as I went along anyway (that and the examiner would frown and look down at his sheet of bad driving).
But yes, it now means I get to drive to Manchester in May, which I'm already dreading, haha.

Here is my driving story and every word is true. at the time I was 16 years old, I had been playing music (clarinet) for 8 years. I decided it would be cool to play guitar so I ordered a guitar amp combo from a mail order catalog. My father and brothers and I were going to the Indianapolis 500 and since I just received my driving permit, I drove all the way from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania to Indianapolis Indiana (12 hour drive). Watched the race (which was great btw) and drove all the way home. Went to take my test................FAILED LMMFAO
When I returned from that race, my guitar and amp had arrived, and that began my long journey I like to call guitar. It was a Global strat copy. All blond w/ a maple neck.

Just got back, it was interesting; my mums car is faster with less brakes, not a great combination!
First time driving at night too so it was a bit weird, but i'm back home in one piece so everything's fine for now!
