We got this acoutic bass in the shop. I don't know much about it, flame maple sides, with a rosewood fretboard. It's fretless, and I was wondering if the roundwound strings on there are liable to tear up the rosewood, seeing how on fretted guitars, the frets usually take the most wear as the strings chafe against the neck... Would this really happen over time?

must admit I'd go with flat wound if it were me (cos they are nice and slidey) though I dont know if round wound would damage the axe !

Slightly off topic, but what's the difference in tone between roundwound and flatwound bass strings?
