Come on guys don't be shy, we've all done it in our search for tonal nirvana, bought that piece of gear that was gonna end our quest for tonal supremacy only to find out it was shite, in my case it was a Danelectro overdrive pedal, the tone would have been ok if it was just not so damned dark sounding!

I don't think I've ever owned anything that I could class as truly really bad. Actually I shouldn't frown; I guess it's a good thing!

Ibanez RG420 DigiTech RP100 (nice toy for a beginner, but it pretty much sounds like ass) DigiTech RP2000 (see previous) DigiTech DigiVerb (decent reverbs, but they could get digitally harsh, and it sucked out all of your tone) MXR ZW-44 (tone is fine, but the build quality is shitty)
That's all I can think of right now, but I'm sure there's been a few more POS's along the lines.

Propably my digitech Grunge Pedal, it sounded good when I first got it, then after months of using it I got a POD and haden't touched it in a while, then played it one day and I was like WTF was I thinking. Its fun to mess around with every now and then but yeessssh.

Boss Super Shifter: sucked the tone and also created a kind of digital sound that I can't explain...even when turned off...
Pod Pro: I'll admit it's great for recording, but isn't worth a doughnut live...
Zakk Wylde overdrive: sounds great, just built like crap...

Not much love for the Zakk Wylde overdrive i feel, i've had no experience of these pedals, what is the quality issue? i.e switch, circuit board, enclosure?

The ZW Overdrive has problems with the switch.....I've read that it's a common thing with these pedals.
I know it's a simple fix, but it just erks me to pay good money for something that breaks after only 3 months...

I think I gave it to Michael or Michael's brother, just to be rid of it. EDIT: Oh, no, it was the DOD Grunge pedal. Probably the same crappy thing, though.

My mom got me a set-up accessory/tool kit one year as a stocking stuffer: string "cutters" that only severely pinched the strings making you work it back and forth till it broke off, some poor excuse for a string winder, and allen wrenches that must've been made out of aluminum or something as they stripped within the first use. Felt bad that it was of such poor quality being a gift and all, but it was useless. Other than that I had an Ibanez TS (the modern plastic one, not the vintage re-issue) pedal switch get a mind of its own within the 1st year.

If you guys have busted ZW-44 pedals, I'd be glad to take em off your hands.

I had a bunch of those Ibanez tone-lock pedals, I'm pretty sure one was a new version of the TS.
They were crap, I gave em away !

The worst? hmmm.... I had a Kent 12 string acoustic with a trapeze type tailpiece that buzzed against the body of the guitar unless I stuffed a piece of cardboard under it. A Dobro knockoff that sounded like a collision between a piano and a brush-shredder after the resonator loosened up. Boss OC-2 octave pedal that farted every time I bent a note. A Fender Jaguar that never intonated correctly despite the best efforts of some usually very good techs. A Gibson SG that went out of tune as soon as the stage lights hit it. That summbitch would go flat if I turned suddenly! Seriously weak neck/body joint due to the pickup location. Only kept that junker for two weeks - took me that long to find a sucker to buy it off me. Another Gibson, called a 'Recording' or somesuch. Weird controls, and the thinnest, most soulless pups ever stuck into an LP. I was stoned when I bought it, and happy when I got rid of it. I wasted years and too much coin trying to get a range of sounds I like out of various Fender and Marshall amps. One-trick ponies, IMO, the lot of 'em. Damn, over a period of 40 years, the list can be depressing....
